Hai D. Nguyen Associate Engineer

Hai is an Associate Engineer at Albus & Associates and has responsibility for geotechnical engineering services. His experience includes hospitals, residential, commercial, industrial, public works, transportation, and federal projects. His areas of expertise include seismicity and ground motions, shallow and deep foundations, slope stability, ground improvement, and retaining/shoring systems. 

Hai earned his B.S. degree in Geotechnical Engineering from Cal Poly Pomona. He previously served in the US Navy Seabee, officially called the Naval Construction Force (NCF), and was deployed to Iceland, Okinawa, Thailand, and Iraq.

What Hai enjoys about working at AAI is the ability to work on innovative solutions for multi-industry projects.  He enjoys mentoring junior staff and streamlining workflows to meet project deliverables. When not at work, Hai enjoys traveling with his family to scenic spots with surf or snow.  He enjoys a good game of chess and a delicious sushi or seafood meal.

Daniel Albus, Project Engineer

Danny is a Senior Project Engineer with AAI and serves in a variety of roles at the company, including Project Manager, Lab Manager, and Equipment Manager. He is tasked with maintaining current certifications for the company and applies his engineering expertise toward a multitude of residential and commercial development projects throughout Southern California.

In addition to his engineering responsibilities, Danny has been instrumental in developing AAI’s custom tools and applications using React, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, all of which have been crucial for internal project tracking and workgroup productivity.

Danny holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from California State University Long Beach and is a native of Tustin, California.

Whenever the opportunity arises and time permits, Danny explores the world, seeking new and off-the-beaten path adventures. He has traveled through over 40 countries and speaks multiple languages, including English, Spanish, Korean, French, and is currently learning Portuguese.

Leza Alkhouri

Leza Alkhouri, Staff Engineer

Leza Alkhouri

Leza’s key duties at Albus & Associates include supporting geotechnical investigations and percolation studies.  Her work includes coordinating field investigation activities, preparing boring logs, analyzing lab and field data, drafting geotechnical reports, and performing engineering calculations.

Projects include educational facilities, land development, and public infrastructure. 

Leza obtained her B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Rhode Island. She has experience in structural engineering, environmental site assessment, and construction inspection through work in both the U.S. and Syria. She has software skills in SEEP/W, Slide, Revit, and ETABS. She has performed seismic monitoring, working with municipal agencies to ensure regulatory compliance and reporting. 

The variety of projects and the collaborative, learning-driven environment are what Leza enjoys about working at AAI. She also loves that our work contributes directly to safe and sustainable development in our communities.

Leza and her husband are very busy with two young children. Their home is busy and full of joy. Leza is fluent in English, Arabic, with conversational French. Leza is passionate about giving back; she co-founded a nonprofit group supporting refugee relief, is active in youth programs, and cancer support groups. When not working, she enjoys traveling, discovering new places, and spending time with family and friends. Leza’s superpower? Juggling mom life, engineering, and everything in between – like a pro!
